Two Crayke Primary School pupils have been presented with awards by North Yorkshire Police for designing winning posters in a road safety competition.
Two Y6 pupils, Jack Walker and Archie Wright, were presented with certificates and bike lights by Deputy Chief Constable Tim Madgwick, who made a surprise appearance at their morning assembly on 18 December 2013.
The competition was open to all year five and six pupils at primary schools in the Easingwold area during Road Safety Week in November. The posters had to be designed to highlight the dangers of winter cycling, road safety and cycle security.
DCC Madgwick said: “It was great to be able to attend Crayke Primary School and present the prizes in person. There were some fantastic posters designed but Jack and Archie were worthy winners.
“Road safety is an important issue, especially at this time of year, and I am pleased that young people in Easingwold had the opportunity to get involved in the competition and think about how they can keep themselves and other people safe.”
Everyone at Crayke is absolutely delighted with your success boys, very well done!
