Yesterday morning we were fortunate to have Revd. Liz in school to lead our Collective Worship. We commemorated the beginning of Lent and learnt that Ash Wednesday is important because it marks the start of Lent – the time leading up to Easter, when Christians believe Jesus was resurrected. During this period, Christians show repentance and mourning for their sins, because they believe that Christ died for them. This links with our school value of Forgiveness.
Revd. Liz taught us about how the ash is created from palm crosses and then Mrs Bower and a volunteer from each class received an ash cross.
Further work on Lent will continue in Class Worships each week this half term. This will be further supported by Mrs Bower’s Worship Group who are working towards leading a worship for the school during the last week of term.
