Interactive spelling workshop: Sign up now!

Dear Parents/Carers
We are inviting parents and carers from across the school to an interactive spelling workshop at 3pm on Wednesday 15th January.
Spellings in the English language are notoriously complex. Getting children to learn their spellings for a test, and then retain their knowledge of that spelling to use it in their day-to-day writing, can be tricky. With that in mind, this brand-new session aims to clarify how we teach spellings, what the expectations are around spellings and some pointers for how to support your child at home. The session is best suited for children in Year 2 and above, however all parents/carers are invited.
We will begin with a presentation at 3pm which aims to demystify spellings and give practical ideas on how to learn spellings. At 3.30pm, your child/ren will be able to join you to explore and try out a wide range of fun and interactive activities that can be replicated at home. Staff will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have. We do ask that you supervise your child/dren at all times and use it as an opportunity to try out some different ways of learning spellings, with your child. Children from Oak Class are invited to help to demonstrate some of the activities and will be shown these beforehand.
Please let us know if you are able to attend, by completing this short online form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScSMbn6jEPPSWVPjqHMamqENrv-XOt1uICVeunQLIDq9a7gsA/viewform?usp=sharing
For parents/carers of children in Oak Class, we would appreciate knowing if your child is willing and able to stay behind to help, using the same link. We anticipate the session finishing by 4.15pm.
Many thanks,
