My daughter attends Crayke Primary and we have lived in Easingwold since 2021 (moving from York). As a family we love being in this area, enjoying the seasons alongside the farming community, and being part of a small-town and small village school community too; it’s a great place to raise a family.
After a varied early career, I’ve been in children’s social care within a local authority for the last seventeen years working across fostering and adoption. I work in adoption outside my main role and am also a qualified personal trainer. I became Vice Chair of governors at Crayke in 2025 and it’s been an amazing journey so far. Before then I was a co-opted governor and always wanted to be a part of the school in some way.
Through experience and working around children and young people, I know schools play a huge role in a child’s sense of wellbeing. Positive school attendance is key and overcoming barriers to attendance is important. Crayke’s leadership team is strong, experienced, and caring, and the school provides stability and great outcomes whilst maintaining a caring community. We know our children, see them as individuals and are proud that all, regardless of socio-economic background, race, ethnicity, special educational needs, or disability, have equal opportunity to achieve their potential. I am proud to be part of the governing body to support the school’s aspirations and helping our wider community flourish.
I am not afraid to challenge when needed and value the breadth of experience on our governing board. There is always something new to learn and it’s a real privilege to be involved, I look forward to being a part of Crayke Primary’s present and future and seeing our children grow together.
