W/C 13/10/25 & 20/10/25 – This week we have reviewed our sounds from week 4 and our routines for phonics as well as carrying out assessments. Please revisit the sounds and words in that section and review.

Practise recognising these graphemes and try to read the following words.

Sound them out carefully to start and then practise being able to read them automatically.
We have continued to review our phase 3 sounds and tricky words so please continue with these too.
W/C – 22/09/25 – We have been focusing on CVCC, CCVC, CCVC and CCVCC words. (C – Consonant, V – Vowel)
Here are some words you can practise with your child that follow these patterns. Please get them to sound out and blend them.

W/C – 15/09/25 – We have continued to practise the sounds from last week and focused on words with 2 or more digraphs. A digraph is ‘2 letters, 1 sound’ for example ‘ch’. The words we have focused on have at least 2 digraphs in the word – for example ‘sh-ee-p’ – the 2 digraphs are ‘sh’ and ‘ee’.
Below are some words you can practice reading with your child. Once they have sounded them out a few times, try and get to just read the word…….

You could turn this into a game – write the words on cards and hide them around the house. Once they find one, they need to read it to earn a point. If you would like to make any notes on what you have done in the reading record, Mrs Walsh will check these on a Friday and give team points 🙂
