Dear parents/carers,
On Friday last week, your child will have done their first spelling test in Class 3. The spelling lists from the new National Curriculum are far more challenging than previous spelling expectations and we are required to teach the children how to spell the words in red that appear on your child’s spelling list. It was really useful to see how all of the children managed with this. As of this week, your child may come home with a new spelling group sheet, which will contain two of their year-group spellings along with other high-frequency words. Some children will remain working on the spellings that were given out on Friday. This will be decided through discussion with your child in addition to looking at their score from last week. The spelling groups will be reviewed on a regular basis and spellings will usually be given on a Monday and tested on a Friday.
