Half Term Challenge: Extreme Reading!

We love seeing our children enjoying reading a range of different books and have a half term challenge that will raise the profile of reading for pleasure across the school. Children should be photographed getting lost in a good book in an unusual or ‘extreme’ place or doing an ‘extreme’ activity… All done safely and in line with the latest covid-19 guidance, of course!
To be able to collate the photographs for a whole school ‘reading for pleasure’ display (and to give staff a much needed break over half term,) please email one photograph of your child to our specially set up email address: extremereading@crayke.n-yorks.sch.uk
Please include your child’s name, class, title and author of the book they were reading. Entries must be submitted before Wednesday 4th November.
Prizes will be awarded for the most creative photographs!
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind parents and carers of our school reading newsletters, which may prove useful for any half term library or local bookshop visits and are also a great read themselves! To find previous editions, please simply search our school website for ‘reading newsletter’ and enjoy discovering countless high quality fiction, non-fiction and poetry books from a range of wonderful lesser known authors. Images and books from this competition may also be featured in the next Crayke Reading Newsletter.
Good luck… And happy reading!
