Ukraine – Discussions with children

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am sure that many of you will be closely following the events in Ukraine, and it has become evident that some of our children are aware of, and interested in, the events that are happening. Whilst we do not want to alert or worry any of the children, it may be necessary, over the coming days and weeks, to navigate them through what they have seen and heard on the news.

I have received a communication from Andrew Smith, the Diocesan Director of Education, and I thought it would be useful to share with parents/carers. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you wish to discuss any contents of this further.

Dear Colleague,

With the focus on world events, the world we broke up from and the world we return to this week seems in many ways a very different place, with the shocking events in Ukraine. Bearing that in mind, here a few pointers to resources that you may find of use:

Schools of Sanctuary

SoS have compiled a series of articles and resources that parent/carers and teachers might find useful and have summarised the key points made across them.  These are now available on their website: Speaking with Children about the War in Ukraine | Schools of Sanctuary
